Musk tells Isaacson only AI and robots can fix US debt
Speaking on biographer Walter Isaacson's upcoming podcast The Builders, Elon Musk said the only way to solve the US national debt is with AI and robots, arguing that spending cuts alone will not get there. He said his time leading the Department of Government Efficiency showed the deficit cannot be fixed from inside government, and that almost no one in power truly wants to cut spending, including the White House, both chambers of Congress and the courts, according to Axios's report. Musk also said he should have stayed in the background for a month or two rather than the four months he formally spent at the White House, and should have returned to focus on AI sooner.
The Chinese report notes that Musk's claim aligns with Treasury Secretary Bessent's approach of relying on economic growth, including AI-driven productivity gains, to ease debt pressure; Anthropic co-founder Jack Clark also described an optimistic AI-driven growth scenario at the IMF-World Bank annual meetings. The report adds that a larger economy does not automatically eliminate fiscal deficits.
马斯克在与传记作者沃尔特·艾萨克森的一次最新播客访谈中表示,曾由他领导的“DOGE”(政府效率部)的工作最终不了了之;这一经历证明,想要“从政府内部解决赤字问题,根本行不通”。
