China's AI office battle shifts from models to entry points and billing
An industry analysis rounds up a dense September of AI-office moves in China: Tencent launched the WorkBuddy open platform and said QClaw will shut down on Dec 24, Alibaba said Qwen Office passed 30 million registered users in its first month, JD.com released enterprise platform JD JoyWork, Feishu shipped version 8.0 with a “Doubao work partner” agent, and Baidu Smart Cloud opened its “Dazi” ecosystem platform. Citing Stanford’s 2026 AI Index, OECD, McKinsey and QuestMobile figures — including a roughly 80% fall in the quality-adjusted price index for text-generation models — the piece argues that as model capability commoditizes, competition is moving to entry points, organizational workflow embedding and pricing models such as “seats + AI usage.”
It suggests the value in AI office software now hinges on embedding into enterprise workflows and finding sustainable billing models, not just raw model quality.
