   US launches America.gov AI government portal powered by Gemini and Grok

   The White House has launched America.gov as a single portal for finding federal information and using government services, with an AI chatbot built on Google Gemini and xAI Grok so citizens can ask questions in natural language. An executive order tasks the GSA administrator, the National Design Studio lead and the OMB director with building and running the platform, which also absorbs Login.gov for single-account access; IRS tax filing and national-security services from the Department of War and the intelligence community are excluded. The same GovTech roundup notes Japan's Digital Agency shared government AI platform Genai, planned to reach roughly 180,000 civil servants in fiscal 2026; Taiwan's OCR-and-AI reimbursement service for social welfare subsidies, which officials expect to cut document sorting and data entry time by about 90%; and Switzerland's plan for about 3,000 civil servants to use the open-source openDesk suite alongside Microsoft 365 by the end of 2027.
