Microsoft redesigns Windows Search as an AI chatbot-like experience

Microsoft has introduced another redesign of Windows 11 Search that adds natural-language interactions, making the search box look and behave more like an AI chatbot or agent. The new version is built on the WinUI 3 API for claimed performance and efficiency gains, merges results and previews into a unified list, better handles typos and synonyms, and adds "inline actions" that let users complete tasks without opening other apps or settings pages. Engadget says the Copilot search redesign arrives this fall; TechSpot, in an editor's take, notes that Windows Search has been redesigned repeatedly over the years without ever quite working as it should.
