   DeepMind and Singapore build on-device Gemma scam detector

   Google DeepMind and Singapore's GovTech agency have built a fine-tuned, on-device scam-detection model using the open Gemma model, presented at Singapore International Cyber Week 2026. The system first runs a lightweight classifier to screen incoming messages, then uses the fine-tuned Gemma model to analyze a larger snapshot of the conversation and confirm or dismiss a threat. DeepMind says fine-tuning took place in GovTech's managed Google Cloud environment using anonymized scam-report and intelligence data, with no citizen personal data; public availability has not been confirmed.
