   Rokid and Tencent Travel Service launch native AI-glasses ride-hailing

   Rokid announced on October 16 a partnership with Tencent Travel Service to launch what it calls the industry's first native ride-hailing service on AI glasses. After connecting to the Tencent Travel Service Agent, users can simply state a destination and the glasses handle the flow from intent recognition and ride requests to ordering and fare payment, while showing vehicle details and estimated arrival time. The two companies link their agents via the A2A (Agent-to-Agent) protocol: Rokid handles intent understanding and interaction, while Tencent supplies place recommendations, pickup/drop-off selection, nearby vehicle search, price estimates and multi-tier comparison, one-tap ordering, real-time order updates and password-free payment; payments, destination changes and cancellations remain backed by the phone.

   Rokid opens world's first unstaffed AI glasses experience store in Hong Kong

   Rokid announced on Oct 15 that the world's first unstaffed self-service AI glasses experience store has opened at Harbour City in Tsim Sha Tsui, Hong Kong — its first overseas flagship store. The space has eight immersive zones with no sales staff following shoppers; each zone pairs a mirror-like interactive screen with a pair of Rokid Glasses. The 49-gram glasses combine shooting, teleprompter, translation, navigation and AI Q&A, and buyers can check out and collect the product from a robotic arm after trying it.

   Alibaba, Tencent and ByteDance race into AI office hardware to capture context

   Alibaba, ByteDance and Tencent are competing over AI office hardware, treating recording cards, AI earbuds and smart glasses as entry points for collecting offline "context", according to a China Entrepreneur Magazine report republished by 36Kr. Tencent's WorkBuddy opened its platform in September with more than 100 ecosystem partners and integrations into dozens of devices from Plaud, Rokid and Insta360, while Alibaba's Qwen Office launched the QwenNote A2 AI agent device on Sept 22 for 1,199 yuan and followed on Oct 13 with N1 and N1 Pro AI glasses plus clip-on earbuds. ByteDance's hardware matrix includes Doubao earbuds, a Doubao phone and the AI recording bean developed with Anker Innovations under Feishu, as investors and practitioners cited in the report warn that companion AI hardware has very high idle rates while funding has cooled and customer acquisition costs remain steep.

   AI hardware panel: LLMs are just table stakes; retention and iteration decide survival

   At Huxiu's 13th AI100 closed-door session, speakers from Rokid, Xiaodu, Tingzhihui Technology and a Singapore incubator discussed what it takes for AI hardware companies to survive now that models and agents are widely available. Their shared view: wiring in AI only gets hardware to a passing grade — the real gaps are understanding of physical scenarios, accumulating unique data, AIOS-centered hardware-software integration and actually completing tasks. The panel also cited Meta's Muse Charm AI keychain as evidence that form factors are fragmenting into niches, and suggested metrics such as 30-day retention to separate novelty purchases from real demand.
