   China's embodied-AI data centers face scrutiny as local governments top robot buyers

   A long-form analysis published with authorization by TMTPost maps China's embodied-AI data-collection industry: by the end of June 2026 more than 70 embodied-AI training sites were in operation nationwide, with 46 more under construction or planned across 18 provincial-level regions. It cites a Caijing magazine report describing a funding loop in which local governments or state platforms provide sites, money and scenarios, data centers buy complete robots from hardware makers, and funds return through data orders, and quotes Mech-Mind founder Shao Tianlan alleging some firms use data centers and related-party deals with local governments, investors and suppliers to manufacture "fake, unsustainable revenue"; Galbot said it denies the claims and has reported them to police, and no regulatory or audit conclusions exist so far. The piece also reports that quoted prices for real-robot teleoperation data have fallen from 500–1,000 yuan per hour to around 100 yuan and even 5 or 3 yuan, and that Beijing's Shijingshan humanoid-robot data training center stopped operating after less than 18 months as partner Realman withdrew its equipment.
