   Google Research releases VERID, an agent framework for autonomous wet labs

   A Google Research blog post introduces VERID, a system built on the open-source PyLabRobot framework that is designed to let AI agents run experiments safely in autonomous wet labs. According to the post, VERID offers four core capabilities: live 3D state tracking, fast virtual dry runs, hardware safety checks, and synchronized video and action logs. Google-reported case studies describe agents refining a mixing strategy after spotting uneven dye stratification, recovering mid-run from a plate-reader failure, replanning after a simulator rejected an oversized 8-channel aspiration, and reconstructing blinded dye mixtures from overhead images in a closed-loop self-play campaign with more than fivefold accuracy improvement.
