- AI Finds Software Vulnerabilities Faster Than Teams Can Patch Them
cnBeta, citing The New York Times, reports that AI is accelerating the discovery of software vulnerabilities beyond the capacity of many engineers and open-source maintainers to repair them. OpenAI says researchers have used its models to find more than 1,300 vulnerabilities since it began scanning open-source software in May, while Google reports using AI to find and fix 1,072 Chrome vulnerabilities in June. Some reports are valid and serious, but others are untested or poorly generated, adding to maintainers’ workloads; curl stopped paying bug bounties in January because of the influx. Security teams are also confronting the spread of offensive models, with Anthropic restricting its Mythos model and providing it through Project Glasswing to selected defenders.

Organizer-supplied materials say the 2026 Global Developer Pioneer Conference and International Embodied Intelligence Skills Competition will run Oct 23-25 in Shanghai's Pudong district, structured as one competition, one opening ceremony and multiple developer activities centered on real machines in real workplaces. The contest lists nine tracks and 23 events spanning handling, welding, precision assembly, quality inspection, patrols, retail, parcel sorting, elder care and emergency search, and the organizers say more than 10,000 robots are already deployed at the Zhangjiang AI innovation town with over 1,000 teams competing. The event also previews first releases of the Kupas industry benchmark series and China Mobile's three spatiotemporal intelligence models, plus participation from more than 100 open-source communities.
