   Figma launches Specs Markdown editor and opens code layers beta

   At its first Config event in India, Figma announced Figma Specs, a Markdown-based editor for defining a design language that can exist as a standalone file or on the canvas and can reference canvas elements and embed FigJam diagrams, code layers and designs. Figma also opened its code layers feature to public beta after a June private beta, said its on-canvas agent is available to more users, and is integrating Payload with Figma Make for dynamic websites and content management. The company says its MCP now supports more than 20 tools including Open Code, Dia, Grok Bot and Sarvam, and that Specs is intended to help its own and third-party agents follow brand design rules.
