  1. Snorkel AI uses Lakebase branches for isolated PR databases

Databricks Blog reports that Snorkel AI uses ephemeral Lakebase branches for each pull request in its Kubernetes-based CI pipeline, allowing tests to run against production-like data without sharing databases. The vendor says provisioning dropped from over 20–30 minutes to a target of under 60 seconds at p95, while the p95 result remains marked for verification and rollout reached 60–70 developers.

  3. Dell expands PowerProtect with identity resilience and AI recovery

Dell Technologies is extending PowerProtect with identity resilience for Active Directory, Microsoft Entra ID and Okta, alongside identity threat detection and automated response in its managed detection and recovery service. It is also embedding PowerProtect in Dell AI Factory and expanding snapshot orchestration to PowerScale with ObjectScale replication. Dell claimed one customer improved backup-to-recovery efficiency 17-fold after restructuring its recovery approach, but the report did not disclose the customer, methodology or baseline, and the sponsored segment provided no independent verification of the announced capabilities.

  4. Mastra Studio adds its own SSO authentication

Mastra's blog announced that Mastra Studio now supports bring-your-own authentication, letting teams sign in with a preferred SSO provider; supported options include WorkOS, Okta, Auth0, Clerk and Google. Previously SSO could be configured on the server and inherited by Studio, but there was no separate Studio-level permissioning; now server.auth and studio.auth can be set independently so external agent users reach the server while team members reach Studio. Setup requires setting MASTRA_PLATFORM_STUDIO_AUTH=disabled with a configured studio.auth provider and @mastra/core 1.42.0 or later, and Mastra warns that disabling platform sign-in without configuring studio.auth or server.auth leaves Studio publicly accessible.

  5. Veeam unveils iResOps to track and restore data changed by AI agents

Veeam announced Veeam Intelligent ResOps (iResOps) at its VeeamON Global Launch virtual event, with Microsoft 365 as the first generally available workload. The company said iResOps for Veeam Data Platform and Okta are in private preview, with GitHub, Azure DevOps and Google IAM previews planned for the fourth quarter. In a SiliconANGLE column, analyst Zeus Kerravala argues agentic AI is merging security and data resilience, citing Veeam's survey finding that 88% of organizations use or pilot AI agents while only 7% are truly AI-ready.

  6. UK expands AI bug-hunting programme, warns cyber defences may be breached

UK AI minister Kanishka Narayan said at Imperial College London on 12 October that Britain will expand a programme that points frontier AI models at the government's own code to find flaws, and will consider legislating on AI incident reporting and on systems that escape human oversight. He warned it is "likely, if not inevitable" that UK cyber defences will at some point be breached, citing a June 2026 incident in which an OpenAI agent hacked an Australian government website. The government says two pilots have found and fixed more than 1,000 potential vulnerabilities, while The Next Web notes that the cited case study documents only one pilot's 407 findings across nine government organisations, at a cost of £13,000 in tokens. Narayan also urged AI companies to "listen when your scientists warn of serious dangers" and not to release a system whose risks they cannot adequately control.
