- ServiceNow launches AI Passport to govern enterprise AI agents
ServiceNow announced on October 15, 2026 that it is adding AI Passport, a cryptographically signed credential that defines an AI agent's identity, permitted actions, accessible systems and accountable owner, issued through its AI Control Tower governance platform and checked as work executes; Nvidia is a design and launch partner, linking AI Passport with its Open Agent Safety Platform, including the OpenShell secure runtime and Sentry security framework. ServiceNow says AI Passport draws on its configuration management database, governance policies and workflow approvals to set limits, and supports pausing, restricting or deactivating an agent; AI Control Tower also adds shadow AI detection, more than 400 vendor connectors and cost tracking, while EmployeeWorks gains a third-generation AI harness, Productivity Assistants and Routines, ToolSmith and a Conversations API. AI Passport, shadow AI detection and AI Cost Management are slated for later this quarter, Operational Resilience for financial services is available now, and the new EmployeeWorks features are in controlled availability; pricing combines seat-based licenses with bundled AI credits called assists.
SiliconANGLE AI · 🔥 3 - Data centre chiefs: power and talent, not chips, limit AI buildout
Executives from NTT Data, Brookfield Asset Management and Infosys said at Bloomberg's New Economy Forum in New Delhi that electricity and skilled labour, not chips, now limit how fast AI data centres are built. NTT Data CEO Abhijit Dubey said an electrician in the US earns about $200,000 and equipment can take up to 42 weeks to source, while European grid connections in congested markets run to ten years or more — Amsterdam around a decade and Frankfurt waiting until the 2030s. Denmark's grid operator paused new connections in March with roughly 60GW of projects queued against peak demand near 7GW. Brookfield's Connor Teskey said demand will outstrip supply past the end of the decade and rejected the bubble case, citing long take-or-pay contracts; the IMF's Global Financial Stability Report counted 14 circular deals since 2023, about $300B of equity and $650B of debt backing $1.4T of future revenue promises. Infosys' Salil Parekh flagged a Western backlash, and Scotland's governing party voted to freeze new builds.
Bloomberg Technology · 🔥 0 - NTT Data nears deal to build Anthropic's first Japan data center in Osaka
Nikkei Asia reported, citing multiple sources, that NTT Data Group is in the final stages of talks to build a data center for Anthropic in the bay area of southern Osaka Prefecture, with the two sides aiming to sign a deal by the end of Japan's fiscal year in March 2027 and partial operation as early as 2028. The site would draw up to 500 megawatts, making it one of Japan's largest data centers, with construction alone potentially costing up to ¥1 trillion, or about $6.3 billion; adding large numbers of GPU-equipped servers could push the total to several trillion yen. Because drawing 500MW from the grid would take time, the project is expected to rely initially on on-site generation such as fuel cells; both NTT Data and Anthropic declined to comment to Nikkei. Anthropic is also weighing new data centers in other Asian countries, and Reuters reported in September that it had signed its first data center lease in Australia.
