   Meet the Anthropic engineer working to make AI agents auditable and trustworthy

   IEEE Spectrum profiles Gurmeet Saran, a member of technical staff at Anthropic, whose work builds the data and observability infrastructure meant to keep outputs from Claude and similar agents accurate, reliable and privacy-preserving. He previously built unified metrics and data-governance systems at Yahoo, Intuit, Meta and Wealthfront — including Meta's Metric360 — and brought the principle that privacy and governance must be built into the architecture from the start. He says capturing what an agent did, what information it worked from and whether outcomes matched user expectations, all without exposing private data, is a far more demanding observability problem than anything he worked on before, and that it gets far less attention than model capabilities.
