   MOSI raises over RMB 1 billion Pre-A round for real-time multimodal AI

   Shanghai-based model company MOSI announced on October 12 that it has raised more than RMB 1 billion in a Pre-A round led by Huakong Fund, with participation from Guokai Venture Capital, Shanghai Science and Technology Innovation Fund, Xinwei Capital, Xuhui Capital, Zhuiguang Hard Tech Ventures and Lingang Ceyuan Fund, while existing backers including Oriza Holdings, Shanghai Sci-Tech Group and Xinglian Capital reinvested; Duowei Capital is sole financial adviser. The company said the money will fund R&D in omni-modal real-time interaction intelligence and global commercialization. MOSI was incubated from the OpenMOSS team led by Fudan University professor Qiu Xipeng, which released MOSS, one of China's earliest open-source ChatGPT-style models, in February 2023; the company says it has shipped more than 20 speech, vision and multimodal models this year and has previewed MOSS Live, a system pairing a front-end interaction model with a back-end agentic model for AI glasses, cars, home devices and robots. The round comes about half a year after its angel round, led by IDG Capital.
