  2. Databricks details free browser-based platform for AI courses

    Databricks says its Free Edition lets students run complete data and AI courses at no cost, with individual browser-based access and no cloud contract, credit card, or local installation. The vendor says the edition is intended for learning and non-commercial use, includes fair-use compute limits, and supports collaboration for up to five people. Databricks also provides course mappings for areas including Spark, data engineering, analytics, machine learning, and AI agents.

  3. Factory and Databricks partner to build software powered by enterprise data

    Factory announced on October 19 a partnership with Databricks so customers can use data and models in the Databricks Data + AI Platform to power software built or migrated by Factory. Factory said the two companies are helping one large global enterprise move a data platform that powers hundreds of business applications to Databricks, involving petabytes of data and hundreds of thousands of tables, and are folding the migration into a single engineering workflow of agents and automation. The partnership covers three use-case categories—product development lifecycle automation, migration and modernization, and cybersecurity—and Factory said qualifying customers can buy it through the Databricks Marketplace using up to 10% of their existing Databricks commitment.
