   Tencent reportedly weighs up to $5B offshore bond sale to fund AI push

   Tencent Holdings is considering an offshore bond sale of up to $5 billion, potentially denominated in US dollars and offshore renminbi and possibly launched as early as this month, according to reports citing people familiar with the matter; the use of proceeds is not yet settled and Tencent has not commented. It would follow a roughly $4.7 billion offshore bond issue in June, the company's largest since 2020. Tencent's capital expenditure jumped to 52.8 billion yuan in the June quarter, which management described as strategic upfront spending on AI infrastructure.

   Leiphone reports that the startup project of Hu Han, former head of Tencent Hunyuan's vision large-model algorithm center, has made new progress: it stays focused on multimodality, plans to raise tens of millions of dollars and targets a valuation in the hundreds of millions, with Yuanshi Capital as financial adviser. Several investment firms have approached him over the past month, and commercialization was repeatedly pressed by investors. According to the report, one of Hu Han's answers is that the model could eventually be sold to large tech companies such as DeepSeek.

The same day Xiaomi released the MiMo-V2.6 series and promoted Luo Fuli (b. 1995) to level 22, the top of Xiaomi's job ladder; her MiMo-V2.6-Pro scored 46 on Artificial Analysis's composite intelligence index, which the article says makes it the top open-weight model on that list. It also describes Zhou Chang running ByteDance's Seedream, Seedance and world-model work and Yao Shunyu heading both AI Infra and the LLM department at Tencent since December 2025, arguing the job handover is complete while capability, commercialization and cost tests are only beginning.
