  1. Pixel 11 Rambler uses Gemini to rewrite dictation into polished text

Google's Rambler voice typing, available on Pixel 11 series devices through Gboard, uses Gemini to remove filler words, fix grammar and punctuation, and turn loosely spoken thoughts into more structured written text rather than a verbatim transcript, according to Google's Pixel support documentation. It works anywhere Gboard accepts text, including Gmail, Google Messages and note-taking apps; users can keep speaking to revise existing text and use voice commands to make a message more professional, shorten it, replace a word or add an emoji, and can switch languages mid-sentence. Google says the full feature set needs an active internet connection, while offline use is limited to basic cleanup, punctuation and capitalization, and it supports Arabic, English, French, German, Hindi and other supported Indian languages, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, Russian and Spanish. The company says audio input, text and corrections are temporarily processed but not saved, stored or shared and are deleted immediately after the processed text is delivered; output appears in the text field for review before sending, and users can switch back to Standard voice typing in Gboard settings.

  2. Google highlights Circle to Search's scam-text detection

Google is reminding Android users that Circle to Search can already flag suspicious text messages using AI Overviews, explaining why a message may be fraudulent and suggesting next steps. Android Authority tested the feature and said it works as intended, and Google Lens offers the same scam-checking capability on phones without Circle to Search, including iPhones. Google's broader scam detection features are not available on every Android phone, and newer tools such as enhanced protection mode in Google Messages reach even fewer devices.

  3. Google Messages adds Gemini-powered scam detection on Android

Google announced new Android anti-fraud features on October 14, led by an opt-in Enhanced protection mode in Google Messages that will roll out in the coming weeks: with it enabled, conversations with unknown senders are sent to cloud-based Gemini models to detect a scammer's intent earlier. Google says the analysis runs in Private AI Compute, where messages stay encrypted and out of reach even for Google, while on-device Gemini Nano checks unfamiliar links before users tap them, initially on Pixel 10 and later devices, the Galaxy S26 series and the Galaxy Z Flip/Z Fold8. Other changes include automatically hiding login and payment fields in Chrome and Android WebView during screen sharing (rolling out this month on Android 15 and later), blocking apps from silently enabling call forwarding from early December with a warning for typed codes, and verified financial calls with banks such as Banco do Brasil, Itaú Unibanco and Revolut. Google says Scam Detection already flags more than 5 million suspected scam calls and texts each month, and chat-notification scam alerts will expand from Pixel phones to devices from Honor, Motorola, OPPO, OnePlus, Realme, Tecno, vivo and Xiaomi.
