  1. Google launches AI Edge Foresight, an offline macOS meeting note-taker

Google released Google AI Edge Foresight, an experimental macOS meeting note-taking app that runs entirely offline using its 740-million-parameter on-device EmbeddingGemma 2 model, with a Gemma 4-powered assistant for asking questions about the transcript. It offers a split-screen view for shorthand notes alongside AI-generated notes, and lets users import PDFs, Google Docs, Office files, plain text, Markdown and web bookmarks as a knowledge base for real-time answers. Google says files, meeting audio and notes "never leave your computer," and the free app is currently optimized only for Apple Silicon Macs.

  2. Google releases EmbeddingGemma 2, an open 740M multimodal embedding model

Google announced EmbeddingGemma 2 on October 6, an Apache 2.0-licensed open embedding model built on Gemma 4 that maps text, code, images, video, and audio into a single 768-dimensional space. It ships with modular encoders — 270M for text-only, 440M with vision, 570M with audio, and 740M fully multimodal — and supports Matryoshka truncation down to 128 dimensions to cut vector storage. Google says it scores 78.68 on MTEB (Code), up from 68.76 for the first EmbeddingGemma, and paired the launch with AI Edge Foresight, an experimental Mac app for offline notetaking and personal knowledge search.
