   Reported Tech Layoffs in 2026 Approach 200,000

   TechRepublic reported that 196,349 people were affected by announced technology-company layoffs in 2026 as of Oct. 23, citing TrueUp’s tracker. The figure includes announced reductions and may include estimates; it does not represent completed layoffs or only technical positions. Amazon, Meta, Microsoft, eBay, Netflix and Electronic Arts were among the major employers reporting cuts, while only some announcements explicitly linked workforce changes to AI.
