   OpenCode 2.0 stable release breaks 1.x plugins in major rewrite

   OpenCode, the open-source coding agent, released its 2.0 stable version after three months of beta, with Anomaly calling it a “major overhaul” and moving the official changelog to the 2.x mainline. The release switches the core runtime from Bun to Node.js and the desktop app from Tauri to Electron, runs a shared background service for the terminal, browser and desktop interfaces, and redesigns the server API and plugin system. Anomaly says Code Mode is enabled by default for all MCP servers and that an agent can connect to “1,000” MCP servers; however, 1.x third-party logic plugins and old server-API integrations must be rewritten, LSP is no longer launched or used for diagnostics, and only AGENTS.md is read.
