- OpenAI previews College Planner and new study tools for ChatGPT for Teens
OpenAI on October 7 shared early progress on ChatGPT for Teens and previewed College Planner, which pulls application requirements, deadlines, tasks and financial-aid steps for the schools on a student's list into one updatable plan, with ChatGPT available to answer questions about each requirement. The feature is initially aimed at US students in grades 10 through 12 planning to attend a four-year college, and OpenAI says only that it is coming "soon." The same update adds flashcards, improved quiz generation and, on iOS, continuous multi-photo capture that merges note pages into a single PDF, with Android still in development. OpenAI says nearly 1.2 million teens used Learning Visualizations in one week and more than 180,000 used Study Mode, and claims teens average under 15 minutes a day on ChatGPT; The Verge noted that Common Sense Media had earlier called the teen mode an "unacceptable risk."
