   Developers suspect Anthropic is testing a new Claude model under Opus 5.5

   Around Oct. 11, several developers on X reported that Claude Opus 5.5 was producing results well beyond its usual level, suggesting some traffic was routed to an unreleased checkpoint they dubbed "Claude Next"; candidates floated include a fresh Opus 5.5 checkpoint, Opus 5.6 or Fable 5.5. Cited demos include a JavaScript-drawn animation made with two short prompts, about two hours and roughly 27 million tokens at max thinking effort, and a 3D scene built via Blender MCP from a single-sentence prompt. Developers proposed a "Do you know VoxelBench?" quiz as a rough check, and Anthropic partnerships manager John Hoffmann teased that "the best is yet to come," but Anthropic has not confirmed a model name or timing.
