  1. AgiBot to invest over ¥200M with 20+ universities on embodied AI talent

AgiBot said its "YuanSheng ecosystem development plan" has signed its first batch of more than 20 universities—including Peking University, Tsinghua, Zhejiang, South China University of Technology, Shanghai Jiao Tong, Xi'an Jiaotong, Southeast and Sun Yat-sen—to build joint embodied-AI teaching and research platforms. The company will supply more than 1,000 embodied-AI devices spanning its Genie, Lingxi and Expedition wheeled, half-size and full-size humanoids plus KuoTu quadrupeds, and provide its AIMA development platform with LinkSoul, LinkCraft and Genie Studio for curriculum, research and hands-on training; it values the hardware and software memberships at ¥200 million. AgiBot had earlier said the plan would spend over ¥2 billion over five years, and says it has connected with 237 research institutions, 500-plus ecosystem partners and more than 10,000 application developers.

  2. Robot startups invest while raising, fueling 'raise-and-invest' debate

Citing the Securities Times, 36Kr reports that a group of robot and embodied-AI startups founded only two to three years ago are still unprofitable yet hold billions of yuan in funding, and are simultaneously raising money and investing in other companies — a pattern becoming more common in China's primary market. Two embodied-AI supply-chain companies, Juxie Intelligence and Moxian Technology, recently announced completed funding rounds at the same time, and both counted the same embodied-AI decacorn unicorn among their investors. The trend is concentrated in embodied AI, large models and AI chips, and is most visible in robotics, with more than ten companies including AgiBot, Songyan Power and Galbot having started investing this year.

  3. EVEWorld cuts world-model 'laziness' rate 85.7% in robot videos

Researchers at China Merchants Group's Advanced Technology Research Institute and Nanyang Technological University (NTU) propose EVEWorld, a post-training supervision framework that enforces physical consistency of manipulated objects in world models: Instance-Guided Recovery (IGR) builds object-duplication perturbations and trains the model to restore the correct count, while Temporal Instance Alignment (TIA) matches and transfers features across adjacent frames in selected layers of a video diffusion Transformer. The authors define unjustified object duplication or disappearance as "Model Laziness" and measure it with a Model Laziness Rate (MLR). According to the paper, EVEWorld lowers MLR on DreamGenBench from 11.11% to 1.59%, an 85.7% relative drop, while Qwen-IF and Gemini-IF scores rise 6.35 and 7.28 points; on WorldArena 1.0, persistently anomalous videos fall from 43 to 21 of 157 shared evaluable samples (about 51.1% relative), and transferred to FlowWAM it cuts RoboTwin MLR from 47.89% to 35.21%. The authors note the method's limitation: its local pairwise supervision does not explicitly model long-horizon state dependencies or complex multi-object interactions.

  4. GDPS 2026 in Shanghai to put 1,000-plus robots on stage

The 2026 Global Developers Pioneer Conference and International Embodied Intelligence Skills Competition will run Oct. 23–25 in Shanghai's Pudong district, keeping the "developers, go find" theme and an "one contest, one opening ceremony, N developer events" structure built around real machines in real settings. Organizers say the event spans 9 tracks and 23 contest categories, with humanoid and robot makers including Agibot, Unitree, Fourier, Lenovo, Keenon, JAKA and Kepler joining component suppliers to show whole machines plus dexterous hands, joint modules, reducers and force-tactile sensors. The agenda also lists first-time releases of industry models and application scenarios — a Kupas industry benchmark series and China Mobile "spatiotemporal intelligence" models — alongside an open-source community session, an AI talent show and a Forbes China awards dinner focused on "non-human subjects." All details come from promotional material supplied by the conference.

  5. AGIBOT reported raising new round at ~50B yuan valuation, delaying IPO

Citing Caijing magazine, reports say embodied-AI company AGIBOT recently opened a new funding round of roughly 1–1.5 billion yuan that is nearing completion, at a latest valuation of about 50 billion yuan. Investors said Hong Kong Exchange rules require a company that raises money after filing but before listing to wait 120 days after the round closes, meaning AGIBOT cannot complete an IPO this year. AGIBOT was founded in 2023 and said on Sept. 24 that its 20,000th embodied-AI robot rolled off the line; a Counterpoint Research report put global humanoid robot shipments in the first half of 2026 above 22,000 units, up nearly 300% year on year, with AGIBOT first at 9,700 units and over 43% share, and the top five all Chinese vendors at 86% combined.

  6. China builds the body, US the brain: humanoid robot race splits

A TechNews report says China's humanoid robotics industry now accounts for most global component and complete-unit shipments, with Shanghai's AgiBot and Hangzhou's Unitree expanding their influence, while Beijing has made humanoids and embodied intelligence a priority development area. It adds that the US retains an edge in robot "brains" and frontier models: Google DeepMind's Gemini Robotics 2 can directly control a robot body, Figure AI's Figure 02 is working in a BMW plant in the US, and Boston Dynamics plans to scale Atlas production and factory deployments. The piece argues the race is splitting into a division of labor, and that as humanoids move from demos to factories and logistics, the ability to integrate hardware, software and real-world data will decide the next round of AI competition.

  7. Why elderly care is becoming embodied AI's first proving ground

A TMTPost analysis argues that while the home remains embodied AI's hardest setting, semi-structured spaces such as hotels and nursing homes are becoming the proving ground where robotics companies validate their models before entering households. It cites the Sept 12 announcement by Xieyue Intelligence — founded in February 2026 by former Li Auto executives Chen Wei and Zhang Xiao — of a several-hundred-million-yuan angel+ round; the company calls itself an embodied foundation model firm with the family as its first market and plans to validate laundry, tidying and cleaning tasks in care institutions first. The piece also reviews Fourier's GR-3 "Care-bot", a Shenzhen welfare centre nursing robot coded "0755" built on X Square Robot's platform, Rushen's Qijia Q1, elderly-care roadmaps from UBTech and AgiBot, Chinese policy pilots that require months of in-field validation, the country's 323 million people aged 60 and over, and unresolved issues around safety, cost, liability and privacy.

  8. Humanoid robot shipments up 4x, but the industry has no profitable model yet

IDC and Frost & Sullivan both published humanoid robot reports in late September, agreeing the market is scaling but disagreeing sharply on the numbers: IDC counted nearly 25,000 units shipped globally in the first half of 2026, up 432.1% year on year, on $740 million in revenue, while Frost & Sullivan counted 36,000 units and $540 million in revenue, implying an average unit price less than half of IDC's. The article says revenue is concentrated in expensive full-size machines — roughly the priciest fifth of shipments took more than three-quarters of revenue — while deployment in actual production work accounted for under 15%, and no company has shown sustained profit: UBTech, the revenue leader, lost RMB 339 million in the half, whereas Unitree is profitable mainly on volume sales of half-size units such as the G1 (over 5,500 units in 2025, about a 34.8% non-recurring net margin). It also cites Mech-Mind founder Shao Tianlan's public criticism of self-dealing data-collection centers and Galbot's denial and police report, and argues that full-size share, commercialization stage and unit prices are more meaningful indicators for the sector.

  9. Swancor's Qiyuan launches Q1 and T1 consumer humanoid robots from about $2,800

On September 20, Qiyuan Robotics — the consumer embodied-AI brand of materials company Swancor Advanced Materials — put two personal humanoid robots on sale: Qiyuan Q1 (19,999 yuan, or 26,999 yuan for the Explorer edition) and Qiyuan T1 (19,999 yuan, 29,999 yuan for T1 Pro), with shipments starting October 1 in order sequence. The company calls Q1 the "world's first small-size full-body force-controlled humanoid," standing about 88 cm tall, weighing roughly 15 kg and folding into a bag, with an Explorer version opening a full SDK and hardware interfaces; T1 is billed as the "world's first transformable personal robot," about 100 cm tall and 16 kg, switching between wheeled-humanoid and quadruped forms, with T1 Pro carrying an NVIDIA Orin Nano chip. Swancor reported first-half 2026 revenue of 803 million yuan, a net loss of 167 million yuan and 180 million yuan of R&D spending (up 738.66% year on year, 164 million of it for robotics), and said pre-orders for Q1 and T1 have brought in 210 million yuan in prepayments, competing with Unitree R1 (from 29,900 yuan) and Booster Robotics' BoosterK1 ($5,999).

  12. DreamTrue: action-faithful robot world model

An arXiv paper introduces DreamTrue, a multi-view, cross-embodiment robot world model for action-faithful and physically plausible video prediction. It renders action trajectories into image-space conditions with offline geometric calibration, adds counterfactual post-training to broaden interaction coverage, and uses a human-annotated defect dataset to train an embodied video reward model that guides reinforcement-learning post-training. On AgiBot, the authors report state-of-the-art action following, a drop in human-assessed interaction defect rate from 48.12% to 6.25%, and first place in the world model track of the AgiBot World Challenge 2026.
