Bloom Energy to supply SOFC on-site power for AOI's GigaLight

Bloom Energy is moving into Taiwan's AI optical-communications supply chain: Hexi Energy said it will help GigaLight, the Taiwan operating site of US optical-component maker Applied Optoelectronics (AOI), install Bloom Energy solid-oxide fuel cell (SOFC) on-site power generation to improve supply reliability during expansion. Hexi Energy is acting as EPC contractor for planning, design, equipment integration and construction, with the project slated for completion and operation in Q1 2027. The project has applied for a Ministry of Economic Affairs Energy Administration subsidy for stationary fuel-cell systems; eligibility and amount are still under review.

AI office is at its 1972 moment; what's missing is human-agent delegation

36Kr republished a speculative essay by Tan Li, co-founder of Shushi Technology, arguing that today's AI office products sit roughly where enterprise software was around 1972: Tencent WorkBuddy, Alibaba's Qwen Office and ByteDance's Doubao Work compete hard, but no shared abstraction yet ties them together. He proposes "responsibility conservation" — every agent action must trace back to a human authorization and leave an auditable record — and says the endgame is a "digital employee" that delivers outcomes rather than an efficiency tool sold per seat or per token. The real bottleneck, he argues, is that authentication, authorization and audit for human-agent delegation remain unstandardized, with policy design still largely blank.

Carson Gross: programming remains a viable career even with AI tools

Simon Willison's blog quotes a short passage from Carson Gross arguing that programming is fundamentally about two things: solving problems with computers, and learning to control the complexity of those solutions. He says he struggles to imagine a future where those skills are less valuable than they are today, so programming should remain a viable career even with the advent of AI tools.

Playable Elizabeth Holmes desk simulator doubles as marketing for document-AI startup

Bo Lau, an engineer at Extend, built a detailed website that recreates Theranos CEO Elizabeth Holmes' 2016 desk setup, letting visitors click through emails, slides, texts and documents released during her fraud trial — and even run the company's ill-fated Edison blood-testing device. The project is largely for laughs, but it also promotes a watch party for Nathan Fielder's new Holmes documentary "You Can See Everything" and Extend itself, which the article says can "parse, extract, and split your hardest documents with unmatched accuracy."

Jensen Huang: AI is not a doomsday threat but a key tool for the energy transition

In an interview with The New York Times' Ezra Klein, Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang said that fears and doomsday rhetoric around AI are overblown. He argued that over the next decade AI could help improve the efficiency and viability of solar, nuclear, fission, fusion and hydro power, making it a key tool for the energy transition. He also acknowledged that global fossil fuel use will "undoubtedly" rise over the next four to five years, and said he has no absolute conclusions about how AI will affect climate and industry.

Flash-model test rerun: deliverable quality tracked the agent workspace, not the model

A 36Kr piece by Qidian Research Society revisits a Flash-model comparison in which DeepSeek-V4.1-Flash and Yunzhisheng U2-Flash ran a phone-industry research report and a match-3 game inside the AI office workspace WorkBuddy, while Qwen-3.8-Flash answered from a solitary chat box on Qwen's AI platform and produced wrong 2026 phone line-ups, misjudged data and a game with frozen scoring logic. Re-running Qwen inside the same WorkBuddy environment, the article says, yielded an eight-chapter report with self-correction and a working game via a locate-bug, edit-code, recompile-and-verify loop. The author argues AI office competition is shifting from the 'model entrance' to the 'task entrance' and onward to enterprise AI infrastructure and multi-model governance.

Taiwan cabinet passes bill lowering AI transformation investment credit threshold to NT$250,000

Taiwan's Executive Yuan approved on Oct. 8 a draft amendment to the SME Development Act, renamed the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprise Transformation and Upgrading Development Act, sending it to the Legislative Yuan. The draft adds a transformation-equipment investment credit with the qualifying spending threshold cut from NT$1 million to NT$250,000, covering smart machinery, AI applications, 5G, cybersecurity, and digital and net-zero investments — including software, technology and technical services, not just hardware. The R&D investment credit rate rises from 15% to 20% with broader outsourced R&D eligibility, while the Ministry of Economic Affairs plans NT$100 billion over eight years to support MSME upgrading.

AI video swaps Jensen Huang into Michael Jackson's dance; Musk quips on memory prices

A Bilibili creator posting as 「王与也行」 published an AI-generated video on Oct 4 that replaces the performer in Michael Jackson's 1992 Bucharest "Dangerous" tour opener "Jam" with NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang in his signature leather jacket, while the crowd is swapped for tech figures including Tim Cook, Lisa Su, Sam Altman and Elon Musk; the article says the clip has drawn over 1.42 million views on Bilibili. After it was reposted to X, Musk shared it with the comment "this is why memory prices are so expensive." Drawing on the meme, the column argues that AI data-center and model-training demand has pushed up memory-chip demand and DRAM prices, hitting even consumers upgrading RAM, and notes Jensen Huang said at a March Morgan Stanley tech conference that scarce memory supply is "great news" for NVIDIA because it had locked in key component capacity.

Japanese ex-AV actresses and idols are out-building big-tech AI PMs with vibe coding

A commentary published by Huxiu AI argues that Japanese former adult-film performer Noa taught herself "vibe coding" with Claude Code, shipped a polished personal site and open-sourced a structured image-prompt set on GitHub, while former Juice=Juice member Miyamoto Karin built a tour fan app in about six weeks — roughly 15 working days and 60 commits — on Claude Code with Cloudflare Workers and D1; former performer Asami Mirai pivoted to AI video and app projects. The piece contrasts them with Chinese big-tech AI product managers and cites a LatePost report that Doubao has over 200 million DAU but under 1 million yuan in daily revenue against millions in daily compute cost, along with team changes on its general chat team (Doubao's PR denied layoffs, saying 11 staff were affected, three of whom left). The author argues falling technical barriers let user-savvy individuals close the gap with big platforms.

Bessent vs. the Fed: Is AI an inflation cure or a new source of it?

US Treasury Secretary Bessent has urged the Federal Reserve to stay "open" to AI-driven productivity gains, while the article says the Fed raised the federal funds rate target range to 3.75%-4.00% in August 2026. In the commentary, author Dr. Xi Chunying argues AI's inflation effect is phased: near term, heavy capex on data centres, power, chips and talent pushes some prices up; only longer term can productivity gains lower costs. He stresses the key is not whether firms use AI but whether they lift total factor productivity and convert it into profit and cash flow.
