Fraudster jailed for 10,000-bot AI song scheme that outstreamed Taylor Swift
A man named Smith was sentenced to 18 months in prison and ordered to forfeit $8,091,843.64 after the US Department of Justice said he used roughly 10,000 bots and AI-generated songs to inflate streaming plays. The DOJ called it its first prosecution of this kind, saying the scheme cut into the royalty pool shared by legitimate artists. Smith's lawyers argued he never actually collected $8 million, that he was being made an example of, and asked for probation instead.
Radisson Hotel Group, working with Accenture Song, launched a Radisson Hotels plugin in ChatGPT that lets travelers see hotel suggestions on a map, compare pricing and amenities, then continue to Radisson's site to book. OpenAI says the plugin was built in six weeks with agentic development, and that users with it installed no longer need to type @RadissonHotels for it to appear when relevant. The companies report a visit-to-booking conversion rate about 1.5 times Radisson's organic search for July-August 2026; Radisson is also running sponsored ChatGPT ads, with more than half of recorded checkout and booking events attributed through view-through measurement.

Details such as the model versions used, the route, safety precautions and why the others failed are not disclosed.
Anthropic offers startups a year of free Claude Team plus $1,000 API credits
According to TMTPost, Anthropic expanded its Claude for Startups program on October 6, 2026: companies founded within five years, or funded in the past two years, get a year of Claude Team enterprise (five Premium seats) plus $1,000 in API credits, which the company says is worth more than $7,000. The offer is paired with the Claude Marketplace launched September 23, listing more than 2,000 plugins and connectors, in what the report describes as a free-entry, build-a-plugin, ecosystem lock-in playbook. The report also says Anthropic's annualized revenue reached $30 billion in April 2026, above OpenAI's $25 billion, and that rival startup programs from OpenAI and Google Cloud carry tighter conditions.
Contact-center AI insights: from handle time to relationship orchestration
SiliconANGLE rounds up theCUBE's coverage of the "AI ROI in Contact Center Summit," where analysts and vendors argued that customer-service success metrics are shifting away from average handle time and first-call resolution toward "conversation to completion" — actually resolving the customer's issue. Executives from Cisco, Zoom, Five9 and Talkdesk described agentic AI that preserves context across AI-to-human handoffs and orchestrates customer relationships rather than just completing single transactions. Five9 cited its own research finding 99% of business practitioners deploying AI think their contact centers improved, while only 66% of end users agree, with more than half of the dissenters saying they want access to a human and can't get it.
Google Play is testing an AI game-discovery feature called Game Finder
Android Authority found code strings in Google Play Store version 53.4.34-34 pointing to a new AI-powered feature called Game Finder, described as an “intelligent, personalized game discovery experience.” It is built around a so-called Gamer DNA profile shaped by a user's gameplay, ratings and interests, which users can edit at any time to tune their feed, with a daily refresh mechanism. The UI could be manually surfaced but is not yet functional, and there is no guarantee the feature will ship.
IEEE's 2030 Technology Megatrends Report drew on 166 experts from 38 countries to identify 30 breakthrough technologies across five megatrends—AI, energy, health, space and physical AI—with AI described as the common thread running through all of them. Personalized medicine scored highest for impact on humanity at 4.93 out of 5, with the report predicting genetic engineering and gene therapy in therapeutic use within two years and earlier diagnoses entering routine practice within five. It also says physical AI and human-AI interaction have the shortest adoption horizons at two to three years, while warning that computing and power supplies constrain AI scaling and citing the Jevons paradox to argue efficiency gains will raise overall energy use.
Ring founder Jamie Siminoff said the company is expanding beyond its signature video doorbell into a broader smart-home security ecosystem, including a new smart lock. He argued that cameras, locks and other connected devices will become the physical "appendages" of increasingly powerful AI systems inside the home, and addressed rising competition as Apple prepares to enter the category.
William Blair strategist: AI trade keeps market narrow
William Blair Investment Management chief investment strategist Olga Bitel said on Bloomberg Open Interest that the market remains narrow, with investors focused on the biggest beneficiaries of the AI buildout. She framed that concentration as the reason breadth stays limited.
Diagram Design 2.5.10 adds ten more diagram layout grammars
Diagram Design is a diagramming skill/plugin for agent hosts including Claude Code, Codex, GitHub Copilot, Factory Droid and Pi. It emits self-contained HTML + SVG with no build step, JavaScript or external image dependencies, and each visual type ships in minimal-light, minimal-dark and full-editorial variants. Creator Cathryn Lavery (LittleMight) added ten layout grammars in v2.5.10: Sankey, fishbone, Wardley map, kanban, user journey, deployment, dependency graph, UML class, story map and database schema. The skill can also read a website to match brand colors and redraw draw.io, Mermaid or Excalidraw sources at a chosen format, size and detail level; official builds come only from the repository.
OpenAI and Anthropic face a holiday of agents, pricing and scrutiny
A roundup from Huxiu describes a crowded holiday period for OpenAI and Anthropic, including the reported delay of GPT-6.1 Astra, the launch of Dots and GPT-6.1 Sol, financing activity, product changes, and regulatory hearings. It argues that competition is shifting from model capability alone toward agent execution, cost efficiency, safety controls, and enterprise access, while several incident and product claims remain attributed to media reports or company statements.
Atlassian unveils Agentic Multiplayer Protocol, Rovo Work and Loom prompts
At Team '26 Europe, Atlassian announced the Agentic Multiplayer Protocol (AMP), which gives AI agents an admin-assigned identity, authority and scope so they can work alongside humans in shared tasks and context. It also introduced Rovo Work for long-horizon, multi-step tasks that humans review and approve, and pitched Loom as a way to turn narrated screen recordings into agent prompts. For developers, Rovo Code Search brings source code into the Teamwork Graph and Data Context extends to Databricks, Snowflake and BigQuery; the company says its expanded MCP server exposes 200 tools and handles roughly 15 million tool calls a day.
Agent-Reach: an open-source CLI that gives AI agents internet access
Agent Reach is an open-source "capability layer" that lets command-line-capable agents such as Claude Code, OpenClaw and Cursor read web pages, YouTube captions, GitHub and RSS through a single CLI, and — after login setup — search and read Twitter/X, Reddit, Bilibili and Xiaohongshu. The project claims all upstream tools are open source and that no API fees apply, with cookies and tokens stored only locally in ~/.agent-reach/config.yaml (mode 600), plus an agent-reach doctor command to check each channel's health. Its README also warns that cookie-based platforms carry detection and ban risk and recommends using a dedicated throwaway account rather than a primary one.
The 9 best accounts receivable automation platforms for 2026, ranked
TNW rounds up nine accounts receivable automation platforms for 2026, weighing invoice-to-cash coverage, collections depth, cash-application accuracy, AP portal reach and whether AI actions sit behind rule-based controls and an audit trail. Monk takes first place, claiming zero human intervention on 90% of collections cases plus a 40% average DSO reduction and 37% month-one cash lift reported by its customers, with a deterministic layer vetting each AI action before it reaches a customer or the ledger. The list also covers Esker, HighRadius and Quadient AR; HighRadius advertises 10% lower DSO and past dues and 40% higher productivity under gain-share pricing, while quoted user reviews put implementations at roughly six months for Esker and eight for HighRadius.
